How to Deal With Stress

March 31st, 2009, Posted in Uncategorized

It’s a safe bet that you’re not the only person right now wondering about tips for coping with stress    Anxiety, tension, frustration, and stress are facts of life for probably everyone and anyone these days, no matter what you do for a living and no matter what your personal situation.  Even fun and enjoyable situations bring stress, from holiday dinners to pregnancy, weddings, retirement, new jobs, and moving.  So even when you have something fun and enjoyable coming up, you still need some pointers on how to deal with stress While sometimes big changes need to be made in order for you to adequately deal with the stress in your life, such as finding a new job if you’re unemployed or getting adequate treatment if you have a health concern, very often it’s just a few minor changes.

Changing your  routine or even to your thinking that can help in how to deal with stress Let’s take a look at some of these things we found in different books on stress

One of the best things you can do when it comes to how to deal with stress is to face those stressful situations head-on.  This can be a difficult prospect because often we deal with stress and tension by hiding, shutting down, avoiding the situation, or "clamming up." Rather than discussing it with are wife or co-worker about a continuing problem, we dodge it completely or give him or her the silent treatment.  This is not a good way of coping with stress as of course it won't make the situation go away and can cause confusion and resentment on everyone else's part. However if you think respectfully about your involvment in situations and what you can do to see the other persons side, this can help tremendously.Very often just taking charge or taking responsibility for our own actions is a good way of how to deal with stress since this means feeling less helpless and frustrated at the situation.

How to deal with stress might also mean changing our own thinking about things.  It's easy to get irritated and tense every time our spouse or children or friends do something that we find annoying, but often it's the fact that we're overreacting that is causing the stress, not their little quirks and faults.  Ask yourself if you're overly critical and demanding, and also consider how well you would hold up if someone had these same standards for you!Changing our way of thinking and starting to compromise is a good way of dealing with stress as then we won't have as many confrontations.Often it's the fight expectations VS someone elses behavior that is causing the friction, and since it's not reasonable to expect perfection or to expect people to adapt to our preferences, changing our own attitude can be the key to dealing with stress Give these things some brutal, honest thought and see if perhaps it's not your own attitude and opinions that need to be changed and if that won't help to ease conflicts.

Bonsai Tree Cultivation

March 30th, 2009, Posted in Home

The art of cultivating bonsai trees has been a Japanese tradition for hundreds and hundreds of years.  Bonsai literally translates to “tray planting,” and involves actively growing and shaping trees into a dwarfed, artistic versions of themselves.  Bonsai trees are not special hybrids or dwarf species of common trees; they’re genetically identical to their much bigger brothers and sisters.  It’s the careful cultivation and shaping techniques that keeps these trees small.  Surprisingly, the trees are not damaged by this process, however.  In fact, given the correct care, the bonsai version of a tree can live longer than the same tree if it was allowed to grow in the wild.

Grown from seeds or cuttings, Bonsai trees normally range in height from two inches to three feet.  They are kept miniture through pruning both branches and roots.  They’re also repotted periodically, and new growth is often pinched off.

There is a much about art as there is about horticulture in the cultivating of bonsai trees.  Bonsai trees are not only kept miniture, they are also formed into pleasing shapes.  They frequently follow a number of different growth patterns, from simple triangles to waterfall shapes cascading down over their pots.  The various shapes are normally a product of both the pruning of the tree and through the wrapping the branches and trunk with wire, shaping the tree into its desired form.  The pots themselves are part of the art as well, chosen to compliment the shape and color of the tree itself.  Mosses and rocks are often added to the base for aesthetic appeal.

Cultivating a bonsai tree is more complicated than taking care of most houseplants.  Since the bonsai, by definition, has has a smaller root system than most plants, it needs water and fertilizer more frequently than most garden-variety houseplants.  Occasional pruning is also essential, since without pruning the bonsai tree would grow into just a normal size tree.  Also, if wire is used to help mold and form the tree, it is important to take care that the wire doesn’t dig into the bark of the tree, scarring the branches permanently.  Depending on the type of bonsai tree and your climate, you may be able to keep some bonsai trees outside year round, while others will need to be kept inside for at least part of the year.  Moisture is also important, not only in the soil but in the branches and leaves of the bonsai.  They need to be misted occasionally for the bonsai to remain healthy.

Fortunately with oak scratches and knocks blend really well and add toi the woods character.

You’ll find that solid oak is one of the most durable hardwoods, and furniture made from this sturdy wood, with the right care, can last for ages, and you will also find that even giving wood the right care can be quite theraputic.

You’ll need to consider your own individual and personal sense of style. Are you looking for an item of furniture has an elaborate design and intricately carved legs, or are you more interested in something that is traditional without being overwhelming, either way oak will give you plenty of choice.

Ionic Air Purifiers - User Safety Is Top Priority

March 29th, 2009, Posted in Uncategorized

User safety tops all criteria in the selection of an ionic air purifier for use in the home, office, factory or school.

Existing ionic air purifier technology, regardless of whether they originate in North America, Europe, Japan or China produce a primary beneficial reactive agent.Depending on the specific technology, these reactive agents may be called negative ions, bipolar ions, plasmacluster ions and so on. Their chief role is to eliminate contaminants in the air we breathe. Much has been written on the efficacy of these reactive agents in destroying contaminants. What takes effort to unearth is whether these powerful reactive agents also act against the delicate human tissues that lead from the trachea to the bronchi of the lungs.

Whether by design or otherwise, there is also an information void about whether there are other by-products and if these are harmful to fragile human tissues as well. However, in the industry, it is known that current ionic air purifier technology results in the inadvertent production of by-products. In sufficient concentrations, these may prove harmful to human tissue. Ozone is one of the potentially toxic by-products. In high concentrations, ozone has been proven to damage human tissues.

Accordingly, for the ionic air purifier user, the issue of safety has to be addressed from these two perspectives:

(1) Potential harm from the beneficial reactive agents, and

(2) Potential harm from the unintended by-products.

Our intensive though by no means exhaustive research on these two perspectives have been condensed into two detailed write-ups that are featured on Ezinearticles.com.

Don’t miss these 2 in-depth Ezine articles. To read, click on the Ezine Author Badge on The Ionic Air Purifier Blog.

Subject to their terms and conditions, Ezinearticles.com allows publishers to freely reproduce these two articles. So help yourself, publish the two articles on your websites as a complete set, via these links:

(1) Beneficial reactive agents

(2) Unintended by-products

In addition, keep updated with our progress as we research other aspects of the very broad, intriguing and exciting field of ionic air purifier technologies.

Baby Formula Is Safer Than You Might Think

March 28th, 2009, Posted in Babies

Breastfeeding is the best way to feed your newborn baby. It provides her with all the nutrition and immunity protection she needs. However, there are circumstances where it simply isn’t feasible, either for the baby or the mother. For various reasons, they find themselves turning to baby formula.

Some parents, however, are concerned about potential problems resulting from feeding cow’s milk to babies. They’re not comfortable with the thought of giving their baby formula. But the fact is that commercial baby formula is perfectly safe and nutritious.

For infants under a year of age, regular cow’s milk isn’t recommended. The quality and quantity of nutrients it contains aren’t as ideal as those found in breast milk. But baby formula isn’t just milk in a fancy package. The manufacturers of baby formula put considerable research into their products. It contains proteins and fats that resemble breast milk very closely.

There are also various kinds of baby formula that aren’t made from cow’s milk at all. Occasionally, a newborn baby will be unable to process dairy products because she is lactose intolerant. However, there are several good alternatives.

One good alternative is formula based on soy products. It’s made with soy protein and is lactose free. However, don’t buy regular soy milk because it’s not meant for babies; make sure it’s soy formula.

Another substitute for formula made from dairy products is a product containing protein hydrolysate. The proteins it contains are already broken down similar to what would take place during natural digestion.

All these products are available in a variety of formulations. Powdered formula is the least expensive. It’s designed to be mixed with water that’s been boiled. Formula in a liquid concentrate format also needs to be mixed with water, but it’s simpler to do so.

When preparing either powdered or concentrated products, it’s important to measure carefully. It’s essential that you use the correct ratio of water to formula for the health of your baby. Also be sure to sterilize all utensils that are used to prepare the formula.

Pre-mixed, ready to use formula, however, can be used straight from the container. It’s also the most expensive of your various options. Similar to the other formulations, you can feed it to your baby either warmed up or at room temperature, depending on her preferences.

One drawback with bottle feeding formula is that parents become more aware of the quantities being ingested. According to trusted sources of baby advice, you should never force your child to drink more than she is willing to consume. If she hasn’t drunk the full amount at the time you think she should, just wait and try again later. Your baby won’t starve; when she’s hungry, she’ll let you know.

Car Seat Options for the Child

March 28th, 2009, Posted in Babies

The choice of the type of car seat you buy for your child is greatly influenced by your child. Most car seat manufacturers have very specific instructions on the use of the car seat. This normally includes the child’s age and weight. There may be nothing more important than choosing the right car seat.

There are two kinds of car seats which are infant car seats and convertible car seats. It is easy to identify an infant car seat as it can be used as a carrier too. The seat is snapped on to the car when the child is in the car and later you can take the car seat with you as you visit the mall or doctors office. It is normally used until the child is about 30 pounds.

Once the child is older, the infant car seat may not be enough and you may need to use the second type of car seat known as the convertible car seat. Up until this time, you have had the car seat facing backwards away from the driver. The convertible car seat makes it possible to face the child forward as the child grows older.

Car seats can also be differentiated by the types of harness that is used.  There is the 3 point harness and the 5 point harness. The 3 point harness looks like a T shaped belt that comes from both shoulders to between the legs. The 5 point harness attaches to both sides of the child’s hips and shoulders and comes between the legs.

The whole idea of car seats is child safety. You must ensure that you use a high quality car seat such as the Britax Roundabout convertible car seat to avoid disappointment. You should also ensure that you have properly secured the child to the car seat at all times and the car seat to the car.

In the end, car seats will save you from the agony of having your child flying in the car during even minor car accidents. Nothing can give you more peace of mind than knowing that your child is always safe as you drive.

All About Nursery Decoration

March 28th, 2009, Posted in Babies

Decorating your baby's nursery may seem stressful and confusing. After all, there are lots of decisions to make and lots of work to do before your new little one arrives on the scene.  However, the process of nursery decoration doesn’t have to be a difficult one.  Here are a few tips to help you end up with a charming, attractive nursery that's just right for your child.

Most of the time, no matter what color scheme you choose, you'll want to keep the walls simple.  This helps keep the room from feeling closed in, and you'll save money in the long run.Toddlers often want to have their rooms decorated to match their personal tastes.  If the walls aren’t the best shape, you can use wall decals or wall stickers, which are removable, to add interest and cover up damage.  These can easily and inexpensively be replaced later with ones your child prefers. Alternatively, some parents choose to use childrens wallpaper on just one wall, for an interesting feature wall.

Choose curtains that are lined with blackout material to create a darkened room for napping, and make sure that you choose pattern and color carefully. If you don't know your babys gender yet, stick to a fairly neutral color scheme.Even parents who do know whether they're having a girl or a boy usually choose unisex decorations, so they can use their nursery materials again for the next baby.Pink is cute - unless you have a surprise son, or your baby daughter has a brother.Avoid very bold or dark colors - light shades are best for a child's room, especially if it's small.

Soft furnishings are easier to change out than wallpaper or paint, and make it easy to add a theme that you won't be stuck with.  A simple change of blanket or curtains can create a whole new nursery if you stick to neutral colors on the walls and floor.Common themes that are gender neutral include jungles, toys, wild animals and ocean scenes. For girls, princesses and fairies are often popular, while boys seem to like sports and vehicles. However, every child differs, and once yours has their own preferences, it's hard to tell what will be best. That's why an easy to change nursery is often a good idea.

It's relatively simple to set up your nursery and end up with one that looks great.  All you need to do is plan with care and pay close attention to your budget.A little creativity in decorating your nursery will allow you to have reusable items, in case you're planning to have another baby, and it'll help you save money, too.Study your house, and exactly what your needs are from a nursery, before you get started. Then price compare and plan ahead. You'll end up with a nicely put together, attractively furnished nursery that'll be perfect for your new baby.
