Go for crib bedding that is good quality because you cannot afford to put your baby at risk. The baby’s cot serves as her bed and her playhouse at the same time. Your baby spends a lot of time there, so it is crucial that she is comfy and at ease.

Aside from that, nursery bedding must be made from soft and smooth cotton for added comfort. Bearing these ideas in mind, choose the bedding that goes best for your precious little daughter. These are a few great ideas to think about in picking the right baby girl bedding.

Girly: Choose pastel colors to have a girly theme for your baby girl’s bedding. You can use those styled with flowers, butterflies, and Disney princesses. You can also have those with ribbons, laces or bows, to make the crib more appealing and beautiful. These will help your bedding look lighter and more comfortable for your baby daughter.

Retro Bedding: Brown? Huh? Yeah, if you haven't guessed, the 70s are back in fashion. Not just bell bottoms either. We are talking about the colors! Lime green, pink and brown, that is. Perhaps you like tans and lavenders with a little yellow and lime green. Stripes? Finding that cute little modern (but 70s) look has never been easier!!

Pretty Little Teddy Bears in Colorful Bows: One of the cutest themes is teddy bears. There are plenty of quilts with teddy bears and you could decorate the room in bows of different colors. Bedding with teddies as prints will surely make your daughter’s bedding fun and playful to look at. It’s a good idea to begin planning for your baby nursery bedding even before your baby is born. To start with, don’t be misled by the argument that you cant plan for babys cot bedding if you dont know if its going to be a girl or a boy. Its true parents want different patterns, colours and designs for girl and boy babies. Please dont worry about this because there are many bedding choices and even nursery color options available in the market which are fine for both girls and boys.

It is easy for parents ” especially those choosing baby nursery bedding for the first time ” to worry about things that are of lesser importance than vital ones. Remember that while we adults spend an average of eight hours per day.e. twenty-four hours, in bed, baby spends almost all of the twenty-four hours in bed!

The first thing to consider is Safety. We often forget the simple fact that baby can’t say if it feels uncomfortable. We parents must be organised and make sure the baby bedding is safe from all aspects. For instance, it is untrue that very soft beds are most comfortable for baby. The bedding should be slightly firm. Also, desist from piling the crib with cuddly toys and pillows. Adults may find them lovely and colourful but not baby. These can turn into hazards because baby could accidentally suffocate. Keep the cot clear of all pillows and soft toys!

Tucking baby into a heavy blanket to keep cold draughts away is equally foolish. Babys movement can bring such blankets over its face and cause baby to over heat.

Next, plan to keep your babys nursery stocked with bedding essentials. Its hard to guess; But blankets and crib sheets sometimes have to be changed several times a day. Cotton sheets are best and I’ve already mentioned about using light blankets. My advice: check the thread count of the crib sheets you buy.

Our advice is to avoid plastic altogether including for baby comforters. Non-biodegradable material is a strict no-no for babys crib. These may spark allergies. The best thing is to use cotton as crib bedding.

Finally, you must ensure the durability of babys crib bedding. As you know, babys going to spend a lot of time in the cot. Apart from babys cot, plan the nursery well. This can contribute to baby growing up as a happy child.

Lets get back once more to babys crib. To recap, lets picture baby lying comfortably on a soft but firm mattress covered with cotton crib sheet and tucked into a lightweight yet warm blanket of pretty design ” not a plain pastel uni-color please! Babies don’t need a pillow and shouldn’t have one until they are over a year old. Similarly, don’t laden baby’s cot with soft toys of various shapes, sizes, and colors.

All done, you can be assured that your darling baby is enjoying a safe sleeptime.

Tips For Choosing Cot Bedding

Cotton sheets and blankets are the traditional cot bedding choices for parents. This is because using cot blankets and cot sheets gives a parent the ability to keep their baby at the perfect temperature through adding or removing layers when needed. Some parents even choose to make their own cot sheets by cutting and sewing sheets from a regular adult sized bed if if they don't want to buy those made specifically for a cot. For parents who wish to buy cot bedding there are some fabulous choices which are easily available in stores and also online via the internet.

Remember that you should use specially sized sheets if you use a pram, carrycot or moses basket. These are smaller than normal cot-sized bedding. On the whole, you should start with approximately three blankets and four sheets. This number enables you to have enough spare sheets and blankets ready if you need to make a quick change. Sheets are generally made of the following different materials: traditional cotton, cotton jersey, brushed flannelette (which is warm to the touch), or stretch cotton terry. Stretchy fitted sheets are practical bedding additions because they are unlikely to come untucked during the night and are easy to remove on and off.

You can use acrylic cellular cot blankets, which wash well, rather than the cotton ones if your baby's bedroom is quite cool. You should always double-check if any traditional wool blankets you get can be washed in a machine . This is becasue you will find yourself washing your baby's cot bedding again and again and having dry clean only cot bedding would be extremely impractical.Snuggly fleece blankets, which are made with polyester, are also a popular choice and can be used in prams and buggies during colder weather, but be careful if you use them in the house as they can become too warm.

Nursery Bedding and Baby Safety

So you’ve bought the crib - congratulations! But now you must be wondering what bedding you’re going to put in it. The majority of crib bedding sets consist of several items, but some of them may actually be harmful to your baby. To be honest, the only thing you really need is a couple of crib sheets, because modern crib safety standards recommend keeping cribs free of all soft bedding. Crib sets are cute, but since most of the pieces are unnecessary, it’s much better to spend your money on some durable, comfortable crib sheets instead.

It may come as a surprise to some, but neither crib bumpers nor blankets are recommended because they are a suffocation hazard. Swaddling blankets or sleep sacks are the best alternative to loose blankets and quilts. Sleep sacks have become a commonplace item these days. While a bit difficult to explain to someone who’s never seen one before, a photograph will clear things up instantly. Swaddling blankets have come a long way, with many mow featuring special fasteners to keep the blanket snug. Swaddling can be an excellent way to help a newborn sleep, but it is generally not recommended beyond 6 weeks because of fears it can hinder hip development. You will be holding your baby a lot, so you might still want a blanket or comforter for those times, especially if you’ve had a winter baby. Just remember that you have to put your baby into the crib without the quilt.

Another crib accessory is a sleep positioner - a kind of foam wedge designed to keep baby on his back. It’s supposed to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). But a young baby is unable to roll onto his tummy anyway - just put him to bed on his back and you should be fine. You should also realize that these foam wedges are themselves soft bedding, which is not recommended by most pediatricians for very young babies.

Other items included in a bedding set can include a window valance, diaper stacker, toy bag, and crib skirt. These can be very tempting because they match the crib bedding, but your baby will not suffer without them.

But most parents are going to want a bedding set anyway, just for the look of the nursery. In this case, try neutral baby bedding like a Hot Cocoa baby bedding set. {It’s much more cost effective because you can use it again and again, regardless of the sex of your next baby.}

Maya 4 Piece Infant Bedding Sets

We had nothing else to do yesterday, so we decided we’d better go pick out the crib bedding. Nothing too difficult, I thought, since we already knew we were going with a brown and pink theme. Going to a store and looking a handful of options wasn’t going to take more than an hour, was it? There was just one little problem - the store we went to didn’t sell baby bedding LOL. The next store had baby bedding. They even had brown and blue bedding. They just didn’t have brown and pink. I thought that was strange, because I was certain that brown and pink were hot nursery colors. I couldn’t believe it when even the third store we visited didn’t have what we wanted. So we went home and checked online - did a quick search for ‘brown and pink baby bedding’, and immediately found something we liked: the Maya 4pc baby bedding set. So of course the first thing Jack said after that was, “Why didn’t you do this in the first place???” :)

If you’re curious, here’s the description of the bedding:

Why is it that babies get the coolest stuff? This funky, hip crib set with polka dots and stripes presents a modern take on the “pretty in pink” standard for little girls. This Maya baby girl bedding collection includes a pretty solid pink color in the softest velour material along with striking 100% cotton twill material with bold stripes of pink, caramel, chocolate brown and white. The polka dot material is 100% cotton percale pink with chocolate brown dots. The solid chocolate brown and caramel colors are 100% polyester material. The coverlet which is perfect for keeping babies warm is a striking patchwork of all the different materials – stripes, polka dots and solids. The ultra suede brown trim perfectly sets off the look. The crib bumper comes in four separate pieces and is encased in a removable slip cover that incorporates both the stripes and polka dots and highlighted beautifully with the brown suede trim. The best part is the slip covers can be washed and replaced with ease! The crib skirt incorporating all of the pretty in pink and chocolate brown colors and patterns is the final touch on an overall charming bedding set, perfect for baby girls.
